About PA schools in Georgia
What to know before you apply in Georgia
Georgia has nine PA program locations. Eight are sponsored by Georgia schools and accredited by ARC-PA: Agnes Scott College, Augusta University, Berry College, Brenau University, Emory University, Mercer University, Morehouse School of Medicine, and South University in Savannah. The ninth is the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine campus in Suwanee, which is accredited as part of PCOM’s program.
Georgia is home to two of the oldest PA programs in the country: Emory was first accredited in 1972 and Augusta University in 1973. (Our founder, Savanna Perry, PA-C, is an Augusta University PA graduate.) The state is still growing. Berry College and Agnes Scott College hold provisional accreditation, and Georgia Southern University received state approval in August 2026 for a new program on its Armstrong campus in Savannah, pending accreditation.
Prerequisites, patient care hour minimums, and GRE or CASPer requirements differ from program to program, so check each program’s website before you finalize your list.

What is the oldest PA program in Georgia?
Emory University’s program, first accredited in 1972. Augusta University followed in 1973.
Are new PA programs opening in Georgia?
Yes. Berry College enrolled its first class in August 2025 under provisional accreditation, and Georgia Southern University’s planned program in Savannah is awaiting accreditation.
Can I apply to a program with provisional accreditation?
Yes. Provisional accreditation is the status ARC-PA gives new programs that have not yet graduated a class, and graduates of provisionally accredited programs can sit for the PANCE.
