Campbell University PA Program: Requirements, Tuition & Stats

Who This Program May Be A Good Fit For

  • Middle-of-the-pack GPA — The average accepted overall GPA (3.54) is close to the national middle, so a solid-but-not-spectacular academic record is genuinely competitive here.

  • Experience-heavy — A 1,000-hour patient care minimum is at or above the national 75th percentile. Plan on a year or more of full-time work before you apply.

  • Faster to practice — At 24 months, this program is shorter than most. That means less tuition and earlier income, but a denser schedule with little slack.

  • Apply early — Admissions are rolling, so seats come off the board as the cycle goes. An application submitted in the first few weeks is worth more than the same application submitted in month four.

She got into Duke. She said no.

Jada turned down an acceptance from Duke and went to Campbell University instead, and I wanted to hear the reasoning because most people would not have made that call. Her answer comes down to fit, and to being clear-eyed about what she needed out of a program rather than what looked best on paper.

Before that she was president of her pre-PA club, and she rebuilt it into something much bigger than she found it. Then the pandemic hit and she had to figure out how to keep a club alive when nobody could meet in person.

We also talk about what she got out of undergrad that mattered, and what changed when she went from leading pre-PAs to being a PA student herself.

What we cover

  • Why she declined Duke and chose Campbell
  • What program fit actually means when you're deciding
  • Growing a pre-PA club as president
  • Keeping a club running through the pandemic
  • Undergrad experiences that shaped her application
  • Going from club president to PA student
