No. The median age of admitted PA students has been climbing for a decade. Late-20s to mid-30s is now the most common range at many programs. Some programs explicitly value second-career applicants. Our oldest matriculated alum was 51.
It depends on whether the role is patient-facing, healthcare-adjacent, or unrelated. Patient-facing counts as PCE/HCE. We'll help you categorize it. Non-clinical careers usually show up as 'employment' but the leadership narrative belongs in the essay.
Yes. Most non-trad applicants we coach do exactly this. Evening, online, or weekend prereqs alongside a full-time job. The trade-off is timeline (typically 18–30 months vs. 12 full-time) and we'll model both.
Often favorably. The signal of leaving a stable career to pursue this is hard to fake. The risk they screen for is impulsivity and your job is to demonstrate you thought it through.
A real consideration, not a deal-breaker. Programs vary on flexibility for parents and caretakers. School list strategy for non-trads has to factor this in, and we'll surface programs that match your obligations.
Pre-PA Counseling assumes the standard traditional arc. Non-Traditional Counseling assumes you have a career, a family, and obligations. Same 30-minute structure, but the coach and framework are different.
